The Fake Oil Repair

Posted by on Apr 16, 2015 in Blog

I had a customer report they had a oil leak and  thought about taking their bike to the dealer and maybe be charged about $175 ~ $250,  $60 to $80 for labor and the other for parts (possible a new oil pan).

After removing the fairing I got to see the real problem which was not a problem at all.  I explained to the customer that it was an oil and grime buildup over time on the chain and the housing.  It would be best to have it sprayed down, cleaned out, lube the chain and get a new oil change  since the dealer was not checking this on the last several visits.
